Volunteers spent Thursday night handling two emergency calls, and some vehicle extrication training.
This is a tie back stabilization method for vehicles on their side. Crews then flapped the roof for patient access. Ended the night putting it on four tires and took the doors and the roof off.

The Volunteers were out during lunchtime today at St. Thomas School spreading Fire Prevention lessons to the students. Even our youngest community members can learn safety lessons to take home to their families; and who doesn’t like squirting a fire hose!!

On Monday September 2nd, the department and mutual aid fire companies were dispatched to a house fire on Windsor Circle. Upon arrival a large volume of fire was involving a two story townhouse, and spreading rapidly to other units. Crews worked diligently to establish a water supply, control the fire, and ventilate the roof. In total, three units experienced fire damage, and several others were impacted with smoke/water.
There were injuries to occupants within this stretch of homes, but all are expected to make a full recovery. We wanted to take the opportunity to thank the Mayor, and members of Borough Council who responded to the scene to support the residents impacted, and the responders fighting the fire. Also a heart-felt thank you to the other departments who responded and were integral to fighting the fire – Concordville, Aston, Bethel, Media, Rocky Run, Upper Chichester, and Fame Fire Companies, along with Mainline Health EMS and the Holmes Fire Co. who provided fire protection coverage to the Borough until we cleared the incident. The affected residents who were unable to inhabit their homes are working with the Red Cross during this time.
The fire is being investigated by the Chester Heights and Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshals; and was deemed accidental in nature.
The power and speed in which a fire burns is very fast. As always we recommend smoke detectors be installed in every bedroom, outside every sleeping area, and on every floor of your home. If you have any questions about smoke detectors or fire prevention – please stop at the station during our Thursday evening training sessions, or message us on our Facebook Page.
This emergency was handled largely by volunteer firefighters. We and the other departments referenced on this page are always looking for new volunteers. If you are looking to give back to your community, please stop by your local fire station meet the members, and see if joining the firehouse is for you.
